  • @user-eh8jv2em2o

    That was fun to watch. The camera is absolute trash, not worth the price, a ripoff, a false advertising. And that cheat-sheet is a cruel joke. It would be better to use 500W equivalent LED bulbs, not these. The rest is ok. For 80 USD or even less you could get a smartphone on temu with 26mm 16MP camera 1000 times better than that 80 USD "camera". And most important: with OpenCamera Android app (free, no ads) it's possible to shoot RAW with full manual controls (just enable Camera2 API in settings and select DNG only). Not to mention a better display, ability to develop the RAW file right away (Snapseed or LR Mobile), WiFi, better battery and many other stuff. I highly recommend using a tripod, because with minimal ISO and LED lights shutter speed would be slow, like 1/15 or so (use timer or wireless shutter or headset's volume button), use ETTR, enough light and your noise would be very low, you'd be surprised with results. Almost all of cheap and expensive smartphone cameras contain Sony (or sometimes Samsung) sensors regardless of the smartphone brand or price or store (temu or not), so when you shoot RAW through OpenCamera consider you are using a mirrorless Sony camera. These RAWs are as flexible as RAWs from real cameras. While JPEGs and built-in camera apps on smartphones are usually trash that devaluates the power of the Sony sensor.

    One thing I am confused about is the Ugreen OS. I have six 250 to 275 MB per second drives in there. Although when I have them in the Ugreen NAS I am only getting about 150 megabytes per second. Someone said once they update their OS or make changes it should run faster

    • @RMSPtv

    I probably wont get an answer to this, but Ill ask anyway. I have it set to hardware RAID1 with only two drives so I have the option to add two additional drives down the line. However, I would like to know if I add the two drives of the same size, will they automatically be configured to RAID1 or will it wipe out my existing array? This is extremely important!

    • @RMSPtv
      @RMSPtv День тому

      Honestly, I have no idea. In theory that should work, but I would 100% reach out to QNAP and ask before putting data on the 2-drive array.

    I ended up going to micro center and buying the wrong switch apparently they don't have any managed switches that are multigabit. So now I have a Netgear switch that is not capable of link aggregation. I was going to add another computer to the network switch to edit with the NAS. However I think I will have to return this one and find a managed switch

    • @RMSPtv
      @RMSPtv 21 годину тому

      An unmanaged switch should be fine. I'd prioritize 10Gb over having something managed.

    Thank you for this! I have the UGREEN 8 bay and so far it's great. I have these old Terramaster 5 drive bay enclosures that I have been using with SoftRAID on my Mac. I just cleared one entirely and am wondering if there's any feasible way to have the UGREEN software (VM maybe?) RAID them independently of the internal RAID and let me access them through the UGREEN's own USB ports? This way I can use them to dump backups from my NAS itself.

    Thanks for sharing your great experience with us! Yes, there are such overwhelming splendours on our beautiful planet (and beyond). Once your see a full eclipse like that, you don't forget it! You have some marvelous equipment with which you can enjoy and capture this extraordinary event. I hope you don't mind one comment: Is there a way you could please calibrate the volume in your video? I found myself turning the sound up and down throughout: when you spoke, I had to raise it, when music came on, lower it. I know that everyone is listening to everything louder these days, but that's actually not good for any of us, nor for our animals. We suffer from a severe case of noise- (and other kind of) pollution, and it's even affecting the way whales are affected negatively by all the loud sounds our inventions make. Our eardrums will put up with it, but at a cost: your hearing gets worse as you keep increasing the volume. Please don't take it as an insult, this is well-meant advice. I've kept my hearing in excellent shape for 72 years by listening to everything at a moderate level. Many people use enormous loudspeakers nowadays without caring about the other creatures around them. You are in the position of being a great example, please pass along the word. Many thanks. Stay as cheerful and enthusiastic as you are!

    For the 6 & 8 bay NAS, I'm curious why you're not recommending RAID6. Since a big part of *WHY* we're using a RAID array is for data redundancy. By using RAID6, we allow for up to 2 drive failures. In RAID5, we only get one! I have an old QNAP 5-bay device, and over the years I have had multiple HD failures. It's the old adage - it's not if you'll have a HD failure, it's WHEN.

    • @RMSPtv
      @RMSPtv 9 днів тому

      I'm a fan of RAID5 with a second unit to backup to which is also in RAID5. But yes, RAID6 is much better if you don't have a second unit to act as a backup.

      I had a similar issue. Maybe create a new "Shared Folder" and see if that fixes it.

      Unfortunately you can't in Lightroom, you would need to use Lightroom Classic or even Keynote/PowerPoint for something like that.

    I only have a network extender right now and I do have a nighthawk X10 but it would need a fiber connection adapter to work then I would have to bridge that to my network....

      You could get an SFP+ to RJ45 adapter. That should work perfectly. bhpho.to/3KP4JBm

    Is there anyway to change the username of the admin account? I'm not seeing the option anywhere. Only password and device name.

      I think you can deactivate the admin account and create a new account with admin privileges.

    I believe the zone system is absolutely irrelevant in modern digital photography. We now have histograms and shadow/highlight clipping warnings, exposure bracketing for uncertainty in challenging conditions, and JPEG previews that, even if slightly clipped, allow us to estimate what can be recovered in RAW and what is truly clipped. While you can divide your scene into 100 or even 1000 zones, ultimately, you'll still aim for ETTR (Expose To The Right) after determining the critical highlights because it offers the best quality approach for digital photography today. In film photography, the zone system was indeed useful with development and printing techniques. However, trying to fit it into digital photography in various ways (as every UA-camr explains it differently as they see fit) no longer makes sense. Examples like showing a black camera sample or a black cooktop and saying, 'Look, it's gray, but it's actually black' - come on, that's not a significant issue. You can always darken it in post-processing; it's not a big deal as long as nothing is clipped.

      @@RMSPtv it's all good 👍 I make plenty of mistakes and have found out how to not be too hard on myself. I wish I would have learned it earlier. I have two 500 GB drives as well but I am considering setting up a larger cache maybe two terabytes each. With your help I was able to set my Naz up with 10 gigabit ethernet to USB-C adapter and yesterday I was editing 4K video in Adobe premiere right from the NAS.. I really love that but I did get a few crashes but it is Adobe lol So I'll be doing some further testing but eliminating my need for copious NVMe drives really changes the game. I'm no longer counting my PCIe lanes..... yES! Thank you so much for your detailed videos I love it
